Government publishes 2023 UK sectoral analysis & announces winners of the Safety Tech Challenge Fund
The government has published its 2023 UK sectoral analysis, which shows rapid expansion in the past year, and announces the successful participants of the Safety Tech Challenge Fund.
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) Innovation Hub recently provided advice to UK Government’s Safety Tech Challenge Fund participants on key areas of data protection compliance. In the first project showcase, which took place on 3 February 2022, the five suppliers chosen to take part in the fund presented updates on work in progress to an audience that included Chris Philp, DCMS Minister for Technology and the Digital Economy.
The Government has today (17 November) announced the five projects that have been selected as the winners of the 2021 Safety Tech Challenge Fund. The selected projects will improve the response to child sexual exploitation and abuse online combining innovative approaches developed by safety tech companies, academics and third sector organisations.

The Safety Tech Challenge Fund will bring together global experts with funding of up to £85,000 each, to demonstrate how end-to-end encryption can be implemented without opening the door to greater levels of child sexual abuse.
